Pacific Crisis and Help Japan! - Sakura

One of the very best things about being part of a global community like sl is seeing how everyone rises to the occasion when our global neighbors need help. I am sure you are aware of the recent troubles in Japan with the largest quake ever recorded, the tsunami that resulted from that, as well as the ongoing nuclear crisis they face now. The effects of this have even reached others around the pacific.


If you would like to help, there are several events and special items being offered all over the grid with all or some of the proceeds going to help fund relief efforts in all areas effected. 2 awesome events taking place at this time are Help Japan! and Pacific Coast Fundraiser charity events. Through these events 100's generous designers have donated items with the proceeds from the sales going to reputable aid organizations.


There are many unique items made just for this event. Such as this gorgeous cherry blossoms petals - pose prop by RunoRuno that I picked up at the Help Japan! event. This event will run for a month or more with 100% of the proceeds from these exclusive items going to the Japan Red Cross.


This beautiful wearable pose prop features these enchanting sakura petals blowing in the wind. It also comes with a hud that has poses made just for these petals. It also works well with other poses, like this one from Bent by our own Catherine Fairport.


Inspired I went to the Pacific Crisis Fundraiser event. Here there are 100's and 100's of items by some of the best known designers in sl. The funds from this event will go to benefit the Americares, a disaster and relief organization. The range and diversity of the items here ensure that everyone will find something they love.

I picked up this lovely Pacific Crisis Skin by Dernier Cri. I was immediately drawn to the delicate features of this sweet skin. It comes with 4 skin tones and tears that are just starting to fall was made just for this event.


Another great exclusive I picked up here was this Sakura hair by Exile. It also comes in 4 shades. This sweet hair is swept back from the front with twist going to the back and little sakura flowers adorning the twist. A great hair that will lend itself well to formal and casual looks alike.

Be sure you show your support and do your part to help ease the suffering of our neighbors all over the world. Check with your favorite designer to see if they are participating in some way. There are many specials in shops all over the grid as well. Hook up with some great stuff and help a good cause at the same time.

New store on the block!

Hello!!! As Teena posted before, our beloved Catherine Fairport has opened a new pose store called BENT which reminds me of Matchbox 20 song Bent lol! (nvm)

So I put on the first thing I found on my chaotic and moody closet and went to visit the store, I find her poses very original and so cool for pics!! She's known for being talented so we couldn't expect less from her :D

While I was there I came across a vendor that had two boys (showing off their sixpacks) and Catherine (in a cute floral dress) and then found out it was the FREE OPENING GIFT, so I took it and ran back home hahahaha I needed 2 boys now and Flash wans't nearby lmao so I had to attacked another one and make him pose with me... (Seems I'm becoming a pro kidnapper LMAO! Just kidding!!)

Gloomy Sales

Yesterday Andie commited a fellony to make a nice menswear post. And it really was good. I saw those sweaters and I got all excited. And then I realised that argyle sweaters are everywhere right now, and as good as those sweaters are I just couldn't quite bring myself to spending my money on even more argyle sweaters.

And I looked at the list of other stores and I was reminded that some wonderful stores are involved in the Jaunty/49L Dudes/whatever next sale. So like the other times I hopped about some stores and I felt... disappointed. One store wasn't there, and another is on the same sim but as I fell 300m on the first one without seeing any sign of life I didn't try that. Another store I couldn't find the sale marker (big pink arrows really should stand out better). One store had a technically impressive item, but it didn't make me want to buy it and I'll rarely refuse something that well made in any style. Another store I visit often I just felt it was well below their usual standard.

And that is the problem I have with the Jaunty sale, I can never get excited about it. It's a week of sim hopping to spend money, and let's be honest, when was the last time you went sim hopping and didn't find something wrong for the first day or two? It's just this rush, and then when I hit the stores I often come away feeling underwhelmed. Now fair enough, I'm not saying designers should push the boat out for a 49L sale, they can sell whatever they want, but I'm buying less, and to be honest I'm even checking fewer stores now.

The problem is I'm burnt out. It's mens fashion after all, we don't get many things happening usually but there seems to be a big rush, and a desire to be top dog, which is just starting to become tiresome. I did Menstuff, and His Fair, and a couple of Locker Rooms (which is probably my personal pick of mens events right now), and I can give money to charity while shopping in Pacific fundraisers and cancer awareness, all of which take time, and I'm male! My idea of shopping is to walk into town, walk in the first shop, and buy the first thing that fits. Simples. All these events and fairs and sales have come on top of each other, and I am running around like mad because I suspect that in a month or so there will be nothing for men again. Until the next burst anyway.

And today, after getting all excited and then disapppointed, I felt dark and broody. So I went back to SF Design (and yes, Swaffette doesn't escape my sighs since I always go to the mainstore at Penryn before remembering the Jaunty item is only at Lotus). I grabbed the free shoes she's giving away in March, the pack of free socks (I only mentioned my lack of socks the other day too), and the free ear rings (not usually my style but it's a theme). Then I wandered over to her Fashion for Life vendor to get a copy of her rather personal suit. Just make a donation equal to (or above - you possibly just got free socks and shoes to go with this) the retail price and it's yours.

And if you're as tired as I am, you just might fall to your knees and realise that you picked up some incredible free gifts, and although the suit costs more than anything in Jaunty, the hardest part about buying it was how much to pay. Oh, and maybe what colour to change your tie to.

Maybe mens fashion will get a better schedule and I'll feel more enthusiastic again. But I suspect I'll be living these fits and starts for a while yet. My gratitude to the designers and stores who offer such wonderful items, if I find the buying schedule hectic I can only imagine the issues of creating.

Feeling the Nature

Hello! March is ending and some hunts are going with it too, so I took the final chance to grab two hunt prizes that look really great. The Yak and Ygor the Yeti

I'm flying to the South of India next week and apart from the excitement of it all, I just HAD to blog my favourite shop of the last 4 years that I've been online. Yak & Yeti is the place to be for FREE ethnic clothing from India and Nepal, Bollywood and Buddhist jewelry and furniture from Tibet and cute pets. Beautiful shop, enchanting surroundings. If you enjoy the shop, please donate a few lindens, Annapurna Onomatopoeia more than deserves it.

The male yumminess with me is the incredible Ygor. My best friend, my Guru, my Yeti, my Wombat. Saying goodbye is hard but, quoting the Yeti himself: the best thing about "goodbye" is the looking forward to "hello again."

What's new pussycat?

What? Two posts on a Monday from Flash! Why yes, it is.

Have you seen the cats everywhere these days? Everywhere I tell you! I was wandering the Steam hunt the other day and I came across one called Mr. Tesla in one store which made me chuckle, but I probably saw cats in about half a dozen stores overall. Okay, so not that many out of 180 stores really, but... EVERYWHERE! And you can get them in green too! It's madness I tell you.

Anyway, I don't usually post on a Monday so I'm always too late for the wonder of Monday Mania, which is a shame because I owe a serious nod towards SF Design for their offerings every week. Today I picked up some Skinny Pants which I'm quite pleased with, although last week was one of the better offers with a shirt fatpack. I may not wear that style very often but at 25L it was hard to resist.

Other highlights of my recent non-hunt gift grabbing are the wonders of [BAIT] and their group gift frenzy, I picked up the Taken Mouf prim and then because I have commitment issues, I grabbed the Fear T-shirt.

Oh, and like I said, cats everywhere! And a mini whitehead cow from Clutter. Well, with so many cats on the grid I figure a milk empire is my road to riches! Then I'll start blogging on "Insanely Expensive Fashionista" and dazzle you with my blingfest, you'll see, you'll see...

Asymmetrical

It's Monday; a time of misery and sadness. A case of the Mondays? Maybe a little, but then I'm reminded my home is still standing and that my world is pretty good really. I'm lucky, I'm just dealing with minor niggles in the grand scheme of things. Perspective is a handy thing at times, SL is full of stress and drama and (whilst I can't pretend things never get on top of me) it's usually over pretty trivial things.

Talking of perspective, last night I dropped by to see Miyoko Magic. She was building a new level on the HelaMiyo store, complete with boingy rubber ducks that she let me ride (simple pleasures for a simple man). She also very kindly stopped building so that I could use her in this photo that shows off her lovely new set of poses, Symmetry.

She said they looked great in gowns so I grabbed my Obi from 22769 and looked all flowing as I vogued about her shop. But Miyoko wanted to show off some of her recent shopping with Sakura Skin from -Glam Affair-, a hooded knit cardigan from INDI Designs, and some posh booties for [Gos]. Plus she also got to show off her own Akiko shape.

Why no links? Because I am about to make your shopping day insanely easy that's why! You don't want to hop from sim to sim looking for these wonderful items, trust me, not when you can hop over to the Pacific Crisis Fundraiser and get them all in one, convient location. It's easy enough to cure the Mondays I tell ya!

I think these may not be at the fair so you can go straight to Magicka for the red hair and Garage for some pretty capri jeans too. All raising money for charity.

HelaMiyo actually has the Symmetry poses and Akiko shape, plus another two sets of poses from the past on offer. I'm sure the other stores have more included too, but as they didn't pose in a photo with me I'm sulking! Or I may just be running out of time since it's Monday.
